Al Hilal Saudi Club entered the Guinness Book of Records as the club with the most consecutive victories in the history of football.
The Blue Wave defeated Al-Ittihad 1-0 in the second leg of the AFC Champions League quarter-finals, qualifying for the semi-finals of the competition and setting a date with Al-Ain of the United Arab Emirates.
This victory was the 28th consecutive official victory for Al Hilal in all tournaments, making it the first club to reach this number and enter the Guinness Book of Records.
The previous record was registered by the Welsh New Saints with 27 matches, in a list that also included Bayern Munich (23 matches) and Real Madrid (22 matches).
Al Hilal has not yet lost any match this season in all official tournaments, and only stumbled 3 times, drawing with Al-Fayhaa and Damak in the Saudi League, and Nafbakhor in the AFC Champions League groups.
The series of successive victories for coach Georgie Jesus’ battalion began after a draw with Damac, by defeating Al-Jabaleen in the King’s Cup on September 25th.
Since then, Al-Hilal has outperformed everyone it faced, including Al-Nasr, Al-Ittihad, Al-Ahly and Al-Shabab, to top the Saudi League standings by 13 points from the closest pursuers, and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League, as well as the semi-finals of the Saudi King’s Cup.
