Inside Europe…a surprising club is a candidate to sign Modric

The newspaper “Gazzetta dello Sport” expected that the latest promotion to the Italian League, Como, will try to sign Luka Modric in the upcoming summer transfer period.

The Spanish media had indicated that Real Madrid had taken the decision not to renew Modric’s contract, so that the Croatian’s trip there would end at the end of the current season after 12 years at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Saudi Arabia or America emerged as the most prominent potential destinations for the 39-year-old, who openly declared his desire to continue in the world of football until competing in the 2026 World Cup in North America.

According to the latest report, Como, who is coached by Cesc Fabregas, wants to support his ranks with the best available players in order to avoid relegation next season.

One of the Italian club’s nominated names is Modric, especially since the Croatian may welcome this move given that it is an opportunity for him to continue in the five major leagues in Europe.

Modric is not the only player on Fabregas’ table, as other famous names are added to him, including Argentine Angel Correa, his compatriot Mauro Icardi, and Spaniard Pedro.

Given Cuomo’s modest financial capabilities, the club will tend to sign older players with experience so that their salaries are affordable, and thus Modric’s option becomes realistic.

However, it remains unknown the player’s decision if he receives an offer from Cuomo, and whether he will prefer the low financial value or will he go to Saudi Arabia and America and receive huge sums of money.
