Mohamed Amoura’s departure from Wolfsburg next summer is now only a matter of time, and the Algerian star is attracting significant interest from several European clubs, both within the Bundesliga and across Europe’s top five leagues.
Wolfsburg is on the verge of relegation from the Bundesliga for the first time since 1997, currently sitting second-to-last with 21 points, just four points adrift of the relegation playoff spot.
Amoura intends to leave the Wolves as soon as they are relegated, and he is being pursued by two English clubs: Leeds United and Everton.
Within the Bundesliga, Stuttgart is keen to secure the services of the 25-year-old, which appears to be the best opportunity for the player, considering the southern German club’s potential participation in the Champions League next season.
Wolfsburg have set a €40 million price tag for Amoura after acquiring him from Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise for around €15 million. However, their impending relegation will reduce the Algerian striker’s value to just €30 million, according to L’Équipe.
Despite a very modest season for Dieter Hecking’s team, Amoura remains Wolfsburg’s best player this season, having scored 8 goals and provided 4 assists in 27 appearances – the most in terms of contribution among his teammates at the Volkswagen factory club.
It’s worth noting that Amoura was close to joining Benfica on the final day of last summer’s transfer window for €28 million, before the German club’s management decided to hold onto him, deeming him “irreplaceable.”
