Harry Kane is close to extending his contract with Bayern Munich until the summer of 2029, a move that could effectively end the recurring rumors of an imminent return to the Premier League to chase Alan Shearer’s all-time goalscoring record.
A new round of negotiations is expected to begin this week following the England captain’s return from vacation to join the German champions’ pre-season preparations.
Kane’s current contract runs until 2027. His annual salary, which is around €25 million before taxes, is not expected to see significant changes in the new agreement, as both parties share a strong mutual desire to continue their successful partnership.

The 33-year-old striker feels incredibly comfortable in Munich, and the same goes for his family. This stability makes extending his contract with the Bavarian giants the most logical choice at this stage.
When Kane first moved to Germany, it was widely believed that he would eventually return to the Premier League to resume his pursuit of Shearer’s record. However, he has become much more focused on winning more trophies with Bayern.
The England captain has 213 Premier League goals, all scored for Tottenham Hotspur, compared to Alan Shearer’s 260 goals for Blackburn and Newcastle, leaving a gap of 47 goals.
Kane will be 36 years old when the proposed contract ends in 2029. Staying in Germany until then will make breaking Shearer’s record much more difficult, even if he decides to return to England later.
