The 38-year-old striker has officially confirmed he will leave FC Barcelona at the end of the current season, ending a prolific four-year tenure as the primary frontman at the Camp Nou.

Reports suggest that Flick has urged the board to prioritize Ferran Torres’ contract renewal. With his current deal set to expire in 2027, the German manager is keen on securing the Spaniard’s future long-term. Flick is reportedly highly impressed with Torres’ transformation into a center-forward, a role in which he has excelled this season, netting 21 goals.

However, Flick emphasized that relying solely on Torres would be insufficient. He has requested the signing of an additional striker in the upcoming summer transfer window.

This development follows reports that Barcelona has cooled its interest in Julian Alvarez due to Atletico Madrid’s high financial demands and competition from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). Meanwhile, Chelsea’s Joao Pedro remains a candidate, alongside more cost-effective La Liga veterans like Vedat Muriqi and Alexander Sorloth.
