Paris Saint-Germain star Achraf Hakimi believes he deserves to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or after his historic season with PSG and their historic treble-winning campaign.
The Moroccan international’s name appeared on the 30-man shortlist for the Ballon d’Or, but his teammate Ousmane Dembélé remains the favorite, facing stiff competition from Barcelona duo Lamine Yamal and Rafinha.
Regarding the many nominations, Hakimi said, “If I have the chance to win the Ballon d’Or, I truly deserve it.”
He added, “Not many players have managed to score in the quarterfinals, semifinals, and final of the Champions League, and it’s even more difficult for defenders.”
He concluded, “Some people think I’m a striker or a midfielder, but in the end, I’m a defender. My numbers this season aren’t those of an ordinary defender. When any defender achieves them, they deserve the Ballon d’Or more than any striker.”
Last season, Hakimi participated in 55 matches with Paris Saint-Germain in all competitions, scoring 11 goals, including one in the Champions League final, and providing 16 assists.
