Guardiola announces Rodri’s fitness for Tottenham match

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola delivered good news to his club’s fans after announcing Rodri’s fitness for Saturday’s Premier League match against Tottenham.

After missing all of last season, Rodri returned to City’s squad for the 2025 Club World Cup, before suffering another injury that kept him out of last week’s Premier League opener against Wolverhampton.

Before the Tottenham match, Guardiola said in a press conference, “Rodri and Foden missed our last game. I saw they weren’t ready to play against Wolverhampton due to lack of training and rhythm, but now they are ready for tomorrow’s game.”

He added, “All I want is for Rodri to continue. I have no doubt about his quality and ability. He is still the best player in the world until another selection is made in the coming months.”

He concluded, “I have great confidence in Rodri. All I want now is for him to continue training, participate in matches, and maintain consistency, and then everything will be fine.”

Meanwhile, Guardiola announced that Savinho will miss the match against Spurs due to injury. Goalkeeper Ederson will also continue to be sidelined due to the same injury, along with Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol.
