Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola expressed his disappointment with his team’s 3-2 defeat to Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 play-off.
City took the lead twice and Real managed to come back each time, before Jude Bellingham scored the winning goal in the last moments.
The Spanish coach said after the match, “I’m very disappointed, this scenario has happened to us a lot this season, a lot!”.
He added, “I know the quality of Real Madrid. We controlled the match in the second half and tried to attack very quickly. What happened happened because they are an exceptional team.”
He continued, “What we went through today has been repeated this season because of bad decisions, I take responsibility, not just me but everyone.”
He concluded about the second leg next Wednesday, “Of course it’s difficult now. We have to recover. I’m thinking about Newcastle now and then I go to the Bernabeu.”
