Real Madrid’s new coach, Xabi Alonso, received great news on his first day at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Real Madrid officially announced Alonso’s appointment on Sunday, and he made his first appearance at the club’s home stadium and was presented to the media on Monday.
According to AS, Alonso’s arrival coincided with Eder Militao undergoing comprehensive examinations and final tests, which confirmed his full recovery from his recent injury.
Militão has been out of action for over six months due to a torn cruciate ligament, and initial reports predicted he would be sidelined until at least the start of the new season.
Fortunately for Alonso, Militao has fully recovered from his recent injury and is even ready to participate in the Club World Cup.
Militao’s return is crucial, given that all of Real Madrid’s key central defenders are injured, with the exception of youngster Raúl Asensio. Alonso could thus bring Aurelien Tchouameni back into midfield.
Real Madrid’s Club World Cup campaign begins on June 18th against Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal, and with just over two weeks to go, Alonso will have plenty of time to prepare.
