Mbappé sustained the injury while scoring France’s winning goal against Turkey. Despite feeling pain in his left knee and attempting to continue following treatment on the pitch, he went down again and requested a substitution in the 58th minute, limping off the field before returning to Madrid for further evaluation.
In an official medical update, Real Madrid stated: “Following tests carried out today on our player Kylian Mbappé by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a hyperextension of the posterior capsule in his left knee,” concluding that “his recovery will be monitored.”
Spanish media outlets report that Mbappé’s recovery timeline is estimated between 10 to 14 days. Consequently, the international break will absorb the vast majority of his rehabilitation program, preventing him from missing any official fixtures for Real Madrid based on the current schedule.
According to Diario AS, Real Madrid officials were pleasantly surprised by the test results, as initial concerns within the club pointed toward a significantly more serious injury.
