Gianluigi Donnarumma named Best Goalkeeper in the World 2025

FIFA has announced that Gianluigi Donnarumma, former Paris Saint-Germain and current Manchester City goalkeeper, has been crowned the Best Goalkeeper in the World 2025 for his outstanding performances throughout the past season.

Donnarumma led PSG to their first-ever treble before moving to Manchester City last July, where he has continued his success in English football.

The Italian goalkeeper beat out Alisson Becker (Liverpool), Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid), Emiliano Martinez (Aston Villa), Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich), David Raya (Arsenal), Yann Sommer (Inter Milan), and Wojciech Szczęsny (Barcelona) to win this prestigious award.

Donnarumma commented on winning the award, saying, “It’s a great honor for me, and I want to thank everyone who voted for me. I feel incredibly proud to be named the best goalkeeper in the world, especially against such fantastic goalkeepers whom I deeply respect.”

He added, “It was an incredible year, one that will stay with me for a long time, and it’s very moving to have my role in the successes achieved during that period recognized.”

It’s worth noting that Donnarumma also received the Best Goalkeeper in the World 2025 award from France Football magazine at the Ballon d’Or ceremony last September.
