Florentino Pérez, President of Real Madrid, has expressed his profound admiration for Barcelona’s rising star Lamine Yamal. However, he made it clear that a transfer to the Santiago Bernabéu is impossible given the current toxic relationship between the two Spanish giants.
A Historic Summer Promised
During a television appearance on Wednesday, Pérez addressed the challenges of Real Madrid’s current “trophy-less” season and discussed the club’s plans for the upcoming summer transfer window. He reassured fans that “Galactico” signings are on the way.
“There will be signings. We have always signed players who make history. Figo, Zidane, Ronaldo, Beckham… then came Cristiano, Kaka, and Benzema,” Pérez stated.
The Personal Touch
Pérez highlighted his hands-on approach to recruitment, recalling: “I went to Benzema’s house myself to convince him. If I see a great player, I go to sign them. I have brought in every Ballon d’Or winner.”

The Stance on Lamine Yamal
When specifically asked about the 18-year-old sensation Lamine Yamal, Pérez was candid: “Of course I like him. How could I not?”
However, he quickly dismissed any possibility of a deal, taking a sharp jab at Barcelona: “The relationship with Barcelona is currently tense. I want no relationship with a club that paid money to referees for two decades.”
The “Negreira Case” Shadow
Pérez’s comments refer to the ongoing legal battle in Spanish courts regarding the Negreira Case, where Barcelona is accused of paying José María Enríquez Negreira, former vice-president of the Technical Committee of Referees, over a 20-year period.
