Talented player Dro Fernandez has informed Barcelona’s management of his intention to leave the Catalan club this winter, taking advantage of the €6 million release clause in his contract.
The 18-year-old joined Barcelona in 2012 and progressed through the youth ranks until he reached the first team early. He even played with them last summer in South Korea and is considered the new Thiago Alcantara.
Dro was with the Barcelona squad in Saudi Arabia for the Spanish Super Cup and celebrated Rafinha’s birthday there. His relationship with everyone at the club was excellent before he shocked them with his decision to leave.
According to Mundo Deportivo, coach Hansi Flick considers Drew’s departure one of the biggest disappointments of his career, especially since he had given the player the opportunity to participate in five matches this season and was gradually integrating him into the first team.
He had expected a different reaction from him instead of this sudden decision to leave. According to all media reports, Dro is on his way to Paris Saint-Germain, especially given his agent’s very close relationship with coach Luis Enrique, which likely facilitated the deal’s early completion.
The young player has been linked with several clubs since his departure was announced, including Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and English clubs, but PSG remains the frontrunner to secure his services, having already been offered a lucrative contract that is expected to be more than double his current salary at Barcelona.
