Bayern Munich was officially crowned Bundesliga champions following Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-2 draw with Freiburg in Round 32 of the league.
The Bavarian club failed to clinch the title on Saturday after a 3-3 draw with Leipzig, and hoped Leverkusen would either fall on Sunday or wait until next week.
Ultimately, Xabi Alonso’s side trailed 2-0 at Freiburg before equalizing in the dying minutes to secure a 2-2 draw.
The draw made it mathematically impossible for Leverkusen to match Bayern Munich’s points tally, as the pharmaceutical company has 68 points compared to Bayern’s 76 with two rounds remaining.
Bayern Munich is now crowned Bundesliga champion for the 34th time in its history, after the Allianz Arena hadn’t won the title once in the past 13 years.
Meanwhile, Harry Kane is the happiest ever, finally winning his first career title after a long wait.
It’s worth noting that Kane is also the current Bundesliga top scorer with 24 points, five goals ahead of his closest pursuers, Serhou Guirassy and Patrik Schick.
