Feyenoord has entered intensive negotiations with former Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner to take over the Dutch side for the upcoming season.
The Rotterdam-based club sacked their manager, Robin van Persie, on Sunday following his failure to achieve the historic club’s sporting objectives last season. Following his departure, the search for a high-profile manager to succeed him immediately began.
Over the past few hours, Dutch officials have placed Glasner as their top target to replace Van Persie. This comes despite initial doubts about the feasibility of the move, given the interest from several European giants.
According to football journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Austrian tactician is open to the idea of joining Feyenoord. However, he prefers to wait a little longer due to ongoing negotiations with AC Milan.
The Rossoneri management recently held a lengthy meeting with Glasner in Germany to discuss him succeeding Massimiliano Allegri, but no final decision regarding his appointment has been made yet.
Taking over at Milan remains Glasner’s current priority, and the situation is expected to become clearer throughout this week. Should the Italian club decide to go with another option, the 53-year-old manager will most likely end up at the helm of Feyenoord.
