Ferran Torres required little time to establish himself at Paris Saint-Germain, transforming his transfer from Barcelona into an explosive attacking start under manager Luis Enrique.
Torres joined the French champions in the summer of 2026 for a fee of approximately €48.5 million, signing a five-year contract. The move followed a season in which he finished as the top Spanish goalscorer in La Liga with 16 goals, departing Barcelona with an overall record of 65 goals and 22 assists.
Appearing on the Spanish television show El Hormiguero, Torres was asked what he missed most after leaving Catalonia, replying: “There is one person I couldn’t take with me, and that is Pedri. I miss him a lot.”
The comment was more than a passing compliment; Torres and Pedri have developed a close friendship since pairing up at Barcelona and the Spanish national team, while also sharing the same agency—making his remark sound like a playful invitation to bring the midfielder to Paris.
There are no actual indications that Barcelona would be willing to negotiate the sale of Pedri, who remains a foundational pillar of the Catalan club’s sporting project. Furthermore, the potential transfer fee and player salary would render any deal exceedingly complex, even for PSG.
Nevertheless, the statement came at a moment when Torres has rapidly built influence at his new club, scoring seven goals in his first six appearances and demonstrating his versatility as both a winger and a central striker in Luis Enrique’s tactical system.
Speaking upon his arrival in Paris, Torres said: “I joined an extremely ambitious project. I thank the president, Luís Campos, and Luis Enrique for their trust. The manager knows me very well and knows how to give me confidence and guidance.”
Barcelona had previously paid approximately €55 million to sign Torres from Manchester City before selling him for slightly less than his purchase price, benefiting financially by avoiding letting him enter his final contract year without a renewal.
