Fernando Gago Discharged From Hospital After Suffering Acute Heart Attack

Universidad de Chile announced on Monday that their Argentine head coach, Fernando Gago, has been discharged from the hospital following his recovery from an acute heart attack suffered last week.

The 40-year-old manager, who took charge of the Chilean club in March this year, was hospitalized in the early hours of Friday after experiencing the cardiac event.

According to the club’s official statement, citing the medical report, the illness “was treated with angioplasty procedures that restored blood flow to his heart” successfully.

Gago to Continue Recovery at Home

Gago’s health condition improved significantly following the treatment, leading to his discharge. He will now continue his recovery and rest at home, the club confirmed.

Local media outlets reported that the former midfielder was rushed to the hospital just hours after leading Universidad de Chile to a 2-0 victory over O’Higgins on Thursday night. The club currently sits third in the Liga de Primera standings.
