Abdessamad Ezzalzouli has finalized an agreement with a new club and will leave Real Betis this summer in a deal whose biggest winner will be Barcelona.
Sport reported that the Moroccan international will move to Italian club Como in a deal estimated at €18 million.
Because Barcelona has a stake in Ezzalzouli, the Catalan club will receive €3.6 million from this deal, a significant sum that will help Joan Laporta’s administration, albeit relatively, comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.
Como’s signing of Ezzalzouli came at the direct request of coach Cesc Fabregas, who was greatly impressed by the former Barça star’s development and his success in becoming one of La Liga’s most important wingers.
Ezalzouli moved to Real Betis from Barcelona for €7.5 million, representing 50% of his rights. Laporta’s management then waived a further 30% of the player’s ownership to complete the sale of Vitor Roque to Brazilian club Palmeiras last January.
The 23-year-old Ezalzouli made 49 appearances for Betis last season, scoring nine goals, most notably in the Europa Conference League final.
