Paris Saint-Germain announced that coach Luis Enrique will undergo surgery after a bicycle accident on Friday.
The club explained that the 55-year-old, who led the French club to its first Champions League title last season, suffered a broken collarbone in the accident.
The club expressed its full support and wished him a speedy recovery. Further updates will be provided in due course.
Luis Enrique led PSG from the bench in his team’s 6-3 Ligue 1 win over Toulouse on August 30, with Portuguese midfielder João Neves scoring a hat-trick in the team’s final match before the international break.
The Parisians are scheduled to face Lens on September 14 in their next league match before beginning their Champions League title defense against Atalanta in the group stage three days later.
Luis Enrique joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2023, winning two Ligue 1 titles, two Coupe de France titles, and a Champions League title, as well as leading them to the Club World Cup final in July.
