A new supporter of Ousmane Dembélé’s Ballon d’Or has emerged, considering it the only and final chance of his career to win the most prestigious individual award in world football.
This supporter is French star Paul Pogba, who recently joined Monaco. He believes Dembélé has done everything in his power to win the Ballon d’Or after France’s historic treble-winning campaign for the first time in its history.
Pogba said, “For me, Dembélé will always be ahead of Lamine Yamal.”
He added, “I’m 100% in favor of Dembélé winning the Ballon d’Or. He won the Champions League, did everything, and played a huge role throughout the season with Paris Saint-Germain.”
He concluded, “If Dembélé doesn’t win the Ballon d’Or this year, he’ll never win it. It’s true that Hakimi and Vitinha were also good, but they’re not as good as Dembélé. He’s the favorite to win the award.”
Spanish media outlets reported that Yamal’s chances had returned following Paris Saint-Germain’s Club World Cup loss to Chelsea, especially given Dembélé’s poor performance in the final.
However, both in terms of numbers and performance, the advantage is in Dembélé’s favor. The vote will be decided by player and coach votes, with the winner to be announced on September 20 at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris.
