Egypt to Face Spain in March 2026 International Break

The Spanish newspaper AS reported that the Spanish national team will face Egypt in a friendly match during the upcoming international break in March 2026.

The Faenalisma Cup match is scheduled to take place in Qatar on March 27, 2026, after the Spanish and Argentinian federations reached an agreement on the date in the past few hours.

Official confirmation of the match, to be held at Lusail Stadium, the venue for the 2022 World Cup final, is expected in the coming hours.

According to the Spanish newspaper, coach Luis de la Fuente wants to play another friendly match during the March break, and the initial consensus is to face Egypt on March 30 or 31.

The Argentinian national team will also play an additional friendly during this break, this time against another Arab team, Qatar.

Both Egypt and Qatar have agreed to play the matches, as both countries prepare for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The World Cup draw placed Egypt in a group with Belgium, New Zealand, and Iran, while Qatar is in a group with Canada, Switzerland, and one of the teams that will qualify from the European playoffs.

It’s worth noting that Spain, the Euro 2024 champions, will face Saudi Arabia, Cape Verde, and Uruguay in the World Cup group stage. Therefore, the idea of facing Egypt seems logical, given their similar technical abilities to the Saudi and Cape Verdean national teams.

As for Argentina, they have two matches against Arab teams, Jordan and Algeria, in addition to Austria, in the 2026 World Cup group stage.
