Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde has been embroiled in a tense dispute with manager Xabi Alonso, sparking speculation about his future at the Santiago Bernabéu and a possible departure this summer.
According to reports in The Daily Mirror, Manchester United have entered the race to sign the 27-year-old, with the English club reportedly prepared to make a substantial offer for one of the world’s best midfielders.
Manchester United see Valverde as the ideal addition to strengthen their midfield, capitalizing on his impressive physical attributes, powerful long-range shooting, and tactical versatility that allows him to play in multiple positions. These qualities have made him a key target in the English club’s plans to bolster their squad.
Manchester United are reportedly preparing an initial offer of up to €80 million for the Uruguayan star. However, this offer is expected to be firmly rejected by Real Madrid’s management.
Leaks confirm that the amount proposed by United does not meet Los Blancos’ financial expectations, especially since the player is still under a long-term contract extending until the summer of 2029, giving the Royal Club significant negotiating power.
The management at the Bernabéu insists that any serious negotiations to sell Valverde must begin at a threshold exceeding €100 million. This figure reflects the player’s considerable technical and financial value within Real Madrid’s system, and also reflects the club’s intention to hold onto one of its most important assets unless an “irresistible” offer is presented.
However, given the disagreements with Alonso, Valverde is likely to end up leaving the Bernabéu unless the coach manages to regain his trust, or Alonso himself leaves the Merengues.
