Mohamed Salah is set to travel to Saudi Arabia within hours, and media outlets have been rife with speculation that this visit could lead to an agreement with a Saudi Arabian club for his transfer from Liverpool during the upcoming winter transfer window.
The “Egyptian King’s” relationship with Liverpool deteriorated in the past month, but he eventually reconciled temporarily with manager Arne Slott and featured against Brighton, providing an assist and leading the Reds to a 2-0 victory in the Premier League.
Over the past two weeks, Salah has been linked with most Saudi Arabian clubs, even though reports in the press indicate that Saudi clubs will not approach him before next summer.
The Jeddah visit has fueled the speculation, but the Saudi Sports Channel has confirmed that the trip is unrelated to any negotiations regarding a move to the Saudi league.
Salah will be in Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah (a minor pilgrimage to Mecca) before the start of the Africa Cup of Nations with the Egyptian national team. He also has some commercial and advertising commitments to fulfill during this period.
It is reported that the Saudi Ministry of Tourism is planning to leverage Salah’s presence in Saudi Arabia for advertising purposes, capitalizing on his immense popularity and widespread media influence in the Arab world and internationally.
It now seems highly likely that Salah will remain with Liverpool at least until the end of the current season, given that his contract with the English club runs until the summer of 2027.
