Despite Camp Nou’s readiness, Barcelona decides to play at Montjuïc for an additional month!

Mundo Deportivo reported that Barcelona’s management is considering postponing the return to Camp Nou for an additional month and continuing to play upcoming matches at Montjuïc.

If things go as planned by Joan Laporta’s administration, Camp Nou will likely receive the necessary government approvals after the next international break, allowing the team to return to its historic home after a two-and-a-half-year absence.

However, the latest report indicates that Barcelona’s management wants to play upcoming matches at Montjuïc due to the stadium’s capacity. Even if the club receives the green light to return to Camp Nou, the permitted attendance will still be limited to 27,000 spectators, compared to 50,000 at Montjuïc.

By November, Camp Nou should be ready to accommodate 45,000 spectators, at which point the immediate move there will be possible.

At the moment, Barcelona’s management has set November 18th, when Hansi Flick’s side host Athletic Bilbao, as the date for their return to Camp Nou.

The fate of the Champions League match against Olympiacos remains unknown, as UEFA has already announced that the match will be played at Camp Nou. However, if it is played at Montjuïc, Barcelona will not be able to return to Camp Nou for continental matches until after the league season ends.

Barcelona’s matches confirmed to be played at Montjuïc include Girona, Elche, and Celta Vigo in La Liga.
