Como president Miroyan Soares has opened the door for Cesc Fabregas to leave for Chelsea next season, should the manager decide to take over.
Fabregas is on the shortlist of candidates to manage the Blues next season, along with Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola and Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner.
With rumors swirling about Fabregas potentially accepting the move, Soares was asked about the Spaniard’s future, and he responded that he wouldn’t object to the departure.
“If it makes him happy, that’s his decision,” Soares said.
He added, “You always want your staff to stay with you as long as possible, but ultimately we don’t own him, and he’s free to go to Chelsea if he wants to.”
Chelsea’s management remains hesitant to pursue Fabregas, preferring other options who have experience in the Premier League and are familiar with how things work in the world’s most competitive league.
As for Fabregas, it’s also doubtful he would agree to coach the club he once played for, especially since he prefers a more stable, long-term experience.
Italian media had previously indicated that Fabregas, who turned down the Inter Milan job last summer, was waiting to take over at either Barcelona or Manchester City in the future.
