Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham has denied Spanish media reports that he, along with Vinicius Junior and Fede Valverde, orchestrated a plot to sack Xabi Alonso as manager of the club.
The Athletic reported that Bellingham’s relationship with Alonso was strained, and that the Englishman was among those who opposed the Spanish coach after being deployed in a position that didn’t suit his abilities.
Bellingham was forced to come forward and insist that all the reports were nonsense and completely unfounded.
The English star commented on the widespread rumors, writing, “Up until now, I’ve let a lot of these posts slide, always hoping the truth would come out in due time.”
He added, “But honestly, what a load of rubbish. I really feel sorry for the people who take every word from these clowns and their sources.”
He added, “Don’t believe everything you read. From time to time, these groups should be held accountable for spreading this kind of harmful misinformation to boost engagement and stir up controversy.”
In practice, however, Bellingham’s relationship with Alonso wasn’t as bad as it seemed. The coach relied on him in most matches and played him in multiple positions. Furthermore, the player himself publicly supported Alonso after the loss to Manchester City last November.
It’s worth noting that Bellingham also sent a brief farewell message to Alonso via his social media accounts, something only Kylian Mbappé and Arda Güler have done.
