Bayern Munich Prepares for Real Madrid with a Comeback Against Freiburg

Bayern Munich secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Freiburg in the 28th round of the 2026 Bundesliga.

This match comes just days before the highly anticipated Champions League quarter-final clash between the Bavarian giants and Real Madrid, and served as excellent preparation for Vincent Kompany’s men ahead of this classic encounter in Europe.

Bayern Munich were without their star striker Harry Kane due to injury, a fact that was clearly felt despite Nicholas Jackson’s efforts to fill the void.

Goals from the Bayern Munich vs. Freiburg Bundesliga Match

Bayern Munich appeared headed for their second Bundesliga defeat of the season after falling behind by two goals at the Europa-Park Stadium.

Just one minute into the second half, Manzambi surged down the left flank and unleashed a superb shot that beat Neuer and nestled into the far corner, scoring his fourth Bundesliga goal of the season and giving Freiburg the lead.

In the 71st minute, Höler unleashed a powerful shot that Manuel Neuer failed to handle cleanly, allowing it to nestle in the back of the net and give the home side their second goal, making the match even more difficult for the visitors.

Bayern Munich responded strongly, igniting the crowd’s enthusiasm in the final minutes. Ten minutes later, Bischoff fired a powerful low shot from 20 yards that nestled into the bottom corner of the goal.

Bischoff then equalized in stoppage time, before Lennart Karl scored the winning goal in the 99th minute, securing a crucial three points for the Bavarians.

Bayern Munich Extends Lead at the Top of the Bundesliga

This victory has given Bayern Munich a significant advantage at the top of the Bundesliga, bringing them very close to clinching the title for the second consecutive year.

The southern club now has 73 points, temporarily extending their lead over Borussia Dortmund to 12 points before the Black and Yellows face a very difficult match against Stuttgart on Saturday.

After 28 rounds, Augsburg remains the only team to have defeated Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, having triumphed 2-1 last January.

As for Freiburg, the other southern club’s tally remains at eight points (37), further diminishing their chances of securing a European spot next season. They trail seventh-placed Eintracht Frankfurt by one point and sixth-placed Bayer Leverkusen by 12 points.

It’s worth noting that Bayern Munich will then face Stuttgart in the Bundesliga, followed by a match against Bayer Leverkusen in the German Cup semi-final at the BayArena.
