Araujo’s availability for the upcoming Atlético Madrid match revealed

Barcelona received positive news regarding Ronald Araujo after he left the Catalan club’s match against Atlético Madrid on Saturday with an injury in the first half.

The Uruguayan international tried to play through the pain after feeling some muscle discomfort, before requesting to be substituted in the final minutes of the first half. Hansi Flick replaced him with midfielder Marc Bernal.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Araujo underwent the necessary medical tests, which confirmed that he is only suffering from muscle overload and has not sustained any serious injury.

It is fortunate that the 26-year-old did not push himself too hard, otherwise he could have suffered a muscle tear that would have resulted in a lengthy absence from the pitch.

Unless there are any further developments, Araujo should be fit to play against Atlético Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final, scheduled for next Wednesday at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.

It is worth noting that Barcelona achieved their third victory this season against Atletico, after winning 2-1 thanks to Robert Lewandowski’s last-minute goal, and after winning the first leg of the La Liga match, and the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final at Camp Nou.
