Manchester United is the team that has won the Charity Shield the most, having previously won the title 21 times, while City has won this tournament 6 times, most recently in 2019.
In general, Manchester City lost the Charity Shield title in the last 3 consecutive appearances.
It is noteworthy that Arsenal is the holder of the Charity Shield title after it defeated Manchester City in the 2023 edition on penalties after normal time ended in a 1-1 draw.
