Ancelotti excludes Neymar and Rodrygo from his first Brazil squad!

Carlo Ancelotti made an immediate impact after taking over as Brazil coach, announcing his first squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

He surprised many by leaving out two big stars: Neymar and Rodrygo. After leaving Real Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti took over the Brazilian national team. His main objective is clear: securing qualification for the 2026 World Cup.

Just days after taking over, he faces a major test, as Brazil will play two major World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay. The first surprise was Ancelotti’s exclusion of Neymar and Rodrygo, before explaining that they were injured and not a technical decision.

However, the coach also made a few surprises, such as leaving out Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson, who has been a regular in recent years, and calling up Casemiro after a long absence.

Ancelotti brought back Antony after his impressive performances with Real Betis, and also called up 17-year-old Estevao.

Brazil’s squad is as follows:

Goalkeepers: Alisson, Pinto, Hugo Souza.
Defenders: Alex Sandro, Alexandro, Lucas Beraldo, Carlos Augusto, Danilo, Leo Ortiz, Marquinhos, Vanderson, Wesley.
Midfielders: Andreas Pereira, André Santos, Bruno Guimaraes, Casemiro, Ederson, Gerson.
Forwards: Antony, Estevao, Gabriel Martinelli, Matheus Cunha, Raphinha, Richarlison, and Vinicius Junior.
