Marca newspaper revealed that Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is planning carefully to compensate for Aurélien Tchouaméni’s absence from the Manchester City match next Wednesday due to suspension.
With the French defender absent from the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, Ancelotti finds himself in trouble because there are only Antonio Rudiger and Nacho at the heart of the defence, and with them Eder Militao, who is returning from injury.
Until now, Ancelotti does not trust that Nacho can play in a match of this size against a strong attack like Manchester City, so his basic plan to replace Tchouaméni lies in Militao, despite his long absence from the field.
According to the newspaper, the Brazilian defender will mainly participate in the Real Madrid-Mallorca match next Saturday in order to test his physical and mental condition and his readiness to play the City match.
If Militao succeeds in presenting his credentials, he will be with Rudiger at the Etihad Stadium, but if he is not ready, Ancelotti will either rely on Nacho, or resort to another option, which is Dani Carvajal.
If Carvajal is relied upon in the heart of defence, then Lucas Vazquez will participate in the right-back position.
It is worth noting that the first leg ended in a 3-3 draw, making it necessary for the Royal team to return from the stadium of the defending champions of the Champions League with a victory to reach the semi-finals.
