Barcelona failed to reach the 2026 Copa del Rey final, exiting the competition in the semi-finals at the hands of Atlético Madrid.
Los Rojiblancos had won the first leg 4-0 at the Wanda Metropolitano in a match marred by controversial refereeing decisions.
The second leg took place on Tuesday evening at the Camp Nou, and Barcelona came agonizingly close to achieving what Hansi Flick had called impossible before the match.
Barcelona took the lead through Marc Bernal in the 29th minute, and Rafinha added a second goal from the penalty spot in the final minute of the second half.
Bernal revived the Blaugrana’s hopes of a comeback by scoring the third goal in the 72nd minute, but the Catalan side’s efforts to stage a comeback were in vain, and the match ended 3-0.
Atletico Madrid will face the winner of the Athletic Bilbao vs. Real Sociedad match in the final at La Cartuja Stadium in Seville next April.
Barcelona, the current holders of the Copa del Rey, have won the competition 32 times, more than any other Spanish club.
