Egyptian media outlets reported that Al Ahly board member Sayed Abdel-Hafiz contacted Ibrahim Adel to urge him to join the Red Devils in a deal described as “extremely difficult” due to the financial demands the Egyptian club would have to make.
A major overhaul has begun within Al Ahly’s football sector following a significant decline in recent results. Sayed Abdel-Hafiz, along with prominent businessman and board vice-chairman Yassin Mansour, is tasked with restructuring the club.
Ibrahim Adel has long been a dream signing for Al Ahly and its fans to bolster the left wing position, which is currently crowded with players like Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, Achraf Bencharki, Taher Mohamed Taher, and Hussein El Shahat.
According to recent reports, Al Ahly has indeed contacted Ibrahim Adel through Abdel-Hafiz, and the player is open to the idea of returning to Egypt, although it remains highly unlikely.
The Egyptian international is currently on a six-month loan from Emirati club Al Jazira to Danish side Nordsjælland, who have an option to buy the player for $2 million.
If this option is not exercised, the player will return to Al Jazira, and any club wishing to sign him will have to pay his release clause of $4 million.
Therefore, Ibrahim Adel’s initial asking price is between €3 and €4 million, a hefty sum that Al Ahly are unlikely to be able to afford given their numerous financial obligations, most notably the salaries of both current and former coaches.
It’s worth noting that Ibrahim Adel has made four appearances for Nordsjælland since joining last January, scoring one goal.
