Real Madrid continued their disappointing run of form domestically, drawing 1-1 with Girona in the 14th round of the 2025-26 La Liga season.
The Catalan club took the lead through Moroccan Azzedine Ounahi in the 42nd minute, before Kylian Mbappé equalized in the 67th minute from the penalty spot.
This draw marks Real Madrid’s third consecutive draw in La Liga, following a goalless draw against Rayo Vallecano and a 2-2 draw against Elche in the previous two rounds.
In the same round, Barcelona secured a 3-1 victory over Alavés at Camp Nou, while Villarreal snatched a dramatic last-minute win against Real Sociedad, thus igniting the early stages of the La Liga title race.

Real Madrid lost their lead to Barcelona, after having been top of the table following El Clásico with a five-point advantage over the defending champions.
Los Blancos now sit in second place, one point behind the Catalan giants, while Villarreal are in third with 32 points. Atlético Madrid are fourth with 31 points, just three points behind leaders Barcelona.
