The match between El Gouna and ZED FC in the Egyptian League witnessed one of the strangest own goals this season in the world of football.
ZED was leading 1-0 until the 94th minute at Khaled Bichara Stadium, and it seemed the game was settled in the visitors’ favor.
In a last-ditch attempt for the home side to come back, Abdelrahman Emad shot the ball from inside the penalty area, but Ali Lotfy blocked it and the ball rebounded towards the goal, where ZED defender Ali Gamal was standing.
Instead of Ali Gamal kicking the ball out of play or letting Ali Lotfy catch it, he bizarrely put it into his own net, giving El Gouna the equalizer.
