Egyptian media revealed that Zamalek Club has withdrawn its position of refusing to play the summit match against Al-Ahly on Tuesday in the 2024 Egyptian League.
In a previous statement, Zamalek stipulated that, in order to play any match again in the league, all clubs must finish their postponed matches.
Accordingly, Zamalek confirmed more than once that it will not play the Al-Ahly match or any league match until its demands are fully met, which also included developing the Egyptian arbitration system and announcing the schedule of the second round matches until the end of the competition.
According to the media, a meeting between the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, with the President of Zamalek, Hussein Labib, changed the course of matters on Monday.
Zamalek’s technical staff, led by coach Jose Gomez, informed the players that the team will play the Al-Ahly match on Tuesday normally.
Indeed, Zamalek entered a closed camp immediately on Monday evening in preparation for the match scheduled to be held at seven in the evening on Tuesday at Cairo International Stadium.
It is noteworthy that Zamalek occupies tenth place in the Egyptian League standings with 34 points from 20 matches, while Al-Ahly has second place in the standings with 42 points from 18 matches.
