Bild newspaper revealed that Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann made a very surprising decision regarding the German squad for Euro 2024.
The former Bayern Munich coach will not call up Borussia Dortmund’s top star, Mats Hummels, and instead decided to include Eintracht Frankfurt defender Robin Koch.
According to the newspaper, the main reason behind this decision by Nagelsmann is his preference for the duo Jonathan Tah and Antonio Rudiger in the center of defense, and his conviction that Hummels will refuse to sit on the bench.
For this reason, out of respect for Hummels, he decided not to call him up, and instead brought in Koch, who would not mind being on the bench for all the Euro matches.
At the same time, Nagelsmann made another decision, but this time it was not surprising, to exclude Bayern Munich player Leon Goretzka in light of his significant decline in form.
Instead of Goretzka, Nagelsmann included young player Aleksandar Pavlovic, who has not played any international matches yet but has performed well with Bayern Munich recently.
