Juventus have denied any intention of sacking Luciano Spalletti despite mounting pressure following a dramatic 3-2 defeat to Sassuolo.
Chief Executive Giovanni Carnevali stated: “Spalletti is an exceptional coach and one of the finest managers ever. Changing coaches is not part of my approach.”
He added: “We must plan, build, and afford the manager time. Patience is necessary, and at times we have to swallow a few bitter pills along the way.”
Juventus suffered a 3-2 loss against Sassuolo, having believed they salvaged a point before conceding a late winner deep into stoppage time.
Sassuolo took the lead through Sebastiano Esposito before Edon Zhegrova equalized; Kieron Bowie restored the hosts’ lead, only for Zhegrova to tie the score again, before Vasilije Adzic secured the victory against his former club.
The result leaves Juventus on seven points from four matches—recording two wins, one draw, and one defeat—occupying eighth place and falling off the top of the Serie A table early in the season.
Spalletti assumed the role in October 2025 before receiving a contract extension through June 2028 from the hierarchy in a bid to maintain stability and construct a long-term project.
The veteran manager holds extensive managerial experience with Roma, Inter Milan, Napoli, and the Italy national team, having won the Serie A title with Napoli and two Russian Premier League titles with Zenit St. Petersburg, as he seeks a prompt recovery for Juventus’s opening UEFA Europa League fixture.
