The first half ended goalless despite Nico Gonzalez hitting the crossbar in the second minute, before the match transformed completely during the final 30 minutes to yield five goals.

Sebastiano Esposito opened the scoring for Sassuolo in the 65th minute, capitalizing on a pass from Nemanja Matic to break clear and slot a low strike past goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

Juventus responded in the 82nd minute through substitute Edon Zhegrova, but Keiron Bowie restored the hosts’ lead in the 89th minute following a counter-attack that exposed space in Luciano Spalletti’s defensive line.

Unbelievable Finish at the Mapei Stadium

Juventus believed they had rescued a point when Zhegrova scored his second goal in the 91st minute after a one-two with Randal Kolo Muani, only for Vasilije Adzic to haunt his former club by scoring the winner in the 94th minute.

Juventus remain on seven points, holding eighth place provisionally after opening their campaign with victories over Frosinone and Parma alongside a draw against AC Milan. Sassuolo also moved to seven points, advancing to ninth place.

Lazio lead the Serie A standings with 10 points, though positions remain subject to change with Roma and Inter sitting on nine points ahead of their remaining Matchday 4 fixtures.

Juventus feature in two remaining fixtures before the international break: opening their UEFA Europa League campaign against Dutch side NEC Nijmegen on September 17, followed by hosting Atalanta on September 20 as they seek an immediate recovery.
