Brazilian winger Juan Bezerra has announced his desire to leave Zamalek SC, issuing an official apology to the club’s board, technical staff, teammates, and supporters for his prolonged absence.
Bezerra returned to Cairo following the conclusion of last season without participating in pre-season preparations or group training sessions, driven by his intention to complete a transfer to UAE side Shabab Al Ahli despite holding a contract with Zamalek through the summer of 2029.
In an official statement, the player reflected on a successful campaign that culminated in Zamalek’s league title victory, affirming his readiness to accept any disciplinary measures imposed by the club for his absence.
Bezerra addressed a personal message to the Zamalek fanbase, emphasizing that their constant backing and support enabled him to perform at his highest level and would retain a lasting place in his career.

The Brazilian winger clarified that while his relationship with teammates and club officials remains positive, he has decided to leave to pursue an opportunity he described as a vital milestone for himself and his family.
Maher Ghareeb, Zamalek’s Director of Media, stated that the club’s financial valuation remains firm at $7 million upfront, alongside a 20% sell-on clause for any future transfer, prior to granting approval for the player’s departure.
The potential transfer remains contingent on Shabab Al Ahli meeting these financial demands to finalize the deal, following previous negotiations that hovered between $4.5 million and $5 million, in addition to sell-on obligations owed to Ukrainian club Oleksandriya.
Bezerra featured in 38 matches for Zamalek across all competitions during the 2025–2026 season, registering seven goals and 10 assists for a total of 17 goal contributions. Zamalek originally acquired the player for approximately $1.8 million, with club officials estimating the total cost of his first season, including wages, at roughly $2.5 million.
