Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala has personally addressed fans and cleared up concerns surrounding his health after collapsing twice during recent pre-season friendlies.
Musiala experienced his first episode during a friendly against RB Leipzig, collapsing in the 83rd minute after coming on as a substitute. New teammate Ismaël Saibari intervened quickly to prevent him from hitting the ground. Initial medical assessments by the club attributed the incident to high temperatures and dehydration.
However, a similar event occurred days later against Heidenheim when Musiala collapsed shortly after entering the pitch in the second half. Medical staff from both teams rushed to his aid before he walked off accompanied by Bayern’s club doctor.
Addressing the incidents on Instagram, Musiala stated: “First and foremost, I am fine. I have been diagnosed with brief, temporary absence seizures caused by a neurological condition, which are easily treatable. I know it might seem scary at first, but for me, it’s currently just part of my daily life.”
The 23-year-old German international confirmed that doctors have assured him there is no additional health risk, granting him clearance from neurologists to continue playing football under close medical supervision alongside his family and Bayern Munich.
This health scare comes after a challenging period for Musiala, who suffered a severe fibula fracture and ankle dislocation/fracture against Paris Saint-Germain in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup quarter-finals. That injury sidelined him for 32 matches and 196 days before his return against Leipzig in January 2026, where he marked his comeback with an assist. Following minor ankle complications, he underwent a planned minor surgery after representing Germany at the 2026 World Cup.
