The future of Emam Ashour has once again become a major talking point at Al Ahly, as Turkish side Konyaspor renews its efforts to sign the midfielder. This comes at a time when the Red Devils’ management is actively seeking to extend his contract and improve his salary to close the door on a potential departure.
Ashour joined Al Ahly from Danish side FC Midtjylland in the summer of 2023 and quickly established himself as a vital pillar of the team. His standout performances with the Egyptian national team during the 2026 World Cup have further boosted his chances of a return to European football.
The interest in the player isn’t limited to Konyaspor; his name has recently been linked with Saudi champions Al-Ittihad and Scottish giants Celtic, with several clubs closely monitoring his situation in Cairo.
Transfer Fee and Al Ahly’s Demands
Konyaspor has raised its new official bid to $4.25 million (approximately 215 million EGP) to acquire the Egyptian midfielder, after their previous offer was rejected by Al Ahly officials.
Despite the increased bid, a deal remains far from completion. Ashour is tied to Al Ahly with a contract running until the summer of 2028, and the club insists on not opening negotiations for his departure unless they receive an official offer approaching the $10 million mark (around 506 million EGP).
A Lucrative Package for the Player
The Turkish club’s temptations go beyond the transfer fee offered to Al Ahly. They are reportedly offering Ashour an annual salary of $1.5 million (around 76 million EGP), alongside performance-related bonuses that could reach $1 million (50.6 million EGP).
The offer also includes a $1 million signing bonus. If all bonuses are met, Ashour could potentially earn up to $3.5 million (approx. 177 million EGP) in his very first season.
Al Ahly’s Renewal Counter-Offer
In contrast, Al Ahly’s latest proposal to extend Ashour’s contract until 2030 ranges between 40 and 45 million EGP annually, encompassing his base salary, privileges, and bonuses. This leaves a massive financial gap compared to Konyaspor’s highly lucrative offer.
