Life After Amorim: Loan Spells at Villa and Barca
Rashford initially left Old Trafford after falling out of Ruben Amorim’s tactical plans, moving on loan to Aston Villa in February 2025, where he scored 4 goals and provided 5 assists in 17 appearances.
The 28-year-old then spent the most recent season on loan at FC Barcelona. He enjoyed a highly successful stint in Spain, registering 14 goals and 14 assists across 49 matches, while helping the Catalan giants secure both the La Liga title and the Spanish Super Cup.
A Return to Old Trafford
Despite the player’s strong desire to continue his journey at Camp Nou, Barcelona opted against triggering his €30 million buyout clause, prompting Rashford’s return to Manchester United following the expiration of his loan.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the English club has decided to retain Rashford and hand him the number 14 shirt.
