Real Madrid and France midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni is set to miss his second consecutive match, ruling him out of the highly anticipated 2026 World Cup quarter-final clash against Morocco due to injury.
The 25-year-old star previously missed Les Bleus’ round of 16 victory over Paraguay, which Didier Deschamps’ men secured thanks to a penalty from Kylian Mbappé.
Aurélien Tchouaméni Injury Update and Recovery Time
When his muscular injury was initially announced, it was expected that Tchouaméni would recover in time for the quarter-finals. However, the midfielder has still not returned to full team training. It would now take a miracle for him to feature against the Morocco national team this coming Thursday.
According to Spanish outlet Marca, Deschamps has no intention of risking the player before he is fully fit. Consequently, Tchouaméni is unlikely to even make the substitutes’ bench. Instead, the medical staff aims to prepare him for the semi-finals, should France overcome the Atlas Lions.
Didier Deschamps’ Predicted Lineup vs Morocco
In Tchouaméni’s absence, Deschamps is expected to keep faith in Manu Koné in the heart of midfield alongside Adrien Rabiot. No changes are anticipated in the star-studded attack, which features Ousmane Dembélé, Michael Olise, Bradley Barcola, and captain Kylian Mbappé.
Should France defeat Morocco, they will progress to the 2026 World Cup semi-finals, where they will face the winner of the heavyweight quarter-final clash between Spain and Belgium.
