Carlo Ancelotti remains determined to stay on as Brazil manager, firmly stating that he will not resign despite the Seleção‘s premature and shocking exit from the 2026 World Cup.
For only the third time in their illustrious football history, Brazil crashed out of the tournament in the round of 16 following a stunning 2-1 defeat at the hands of Norway at MetLife Stadium.
When questioned about a potential resignation immediately after the final whistle, Ancelotti responded defiantly:
“No, I will not resign. We must keep working, evolving, and finding new ideas.”
He further added: “Of course, we are all deeply disappointed. I truly believed we had a good squad for this World Cup, and I honestly think we deserved to win against Norway.”
The Italian tactician concluded on a forward-looking note: “In situations like this, you have to look at defeat as the beginning of a new era. I believe this loss is not the end, but rather the start of a new cycle.”
CBF Backs Ancelotti for the 2030 World Cup
Despite facing scathing criticism from fans and pundits alike in recent weeks, reports from Brazilian media indicate that the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has no intention of sacking Ancelotti.
Instead, Brazil is set to embark on a massive rebuilding phase under his leadership. This overhaul is expected to start with changes to his coaching staff and extend to developing a brand-new generation of players capable of competing for the 2030 World Cup.
