Mahmoud Saber opened the scoring for Egypt against Iran on Saturday morning just 5 minutes into the match, during their final 2026 World Cup group stage clash.
Saber Shatters Emam Ashour’s Record With Early Blitz
Egypt’s manager Hossam Hassan made a bold tactical move by naming Saber in the starting lineup over Marwan Attia. The ZED FC player made the most of his historic World Cup debut, scoring a goal that replayed the history books.
Saber’s strike after just five minutes is now officially the fastest goal Egypt has ever scored in World Cup history. With this finish, he broke the previous record set only two weeks ago by Emam Ashour, who scored against Belgium in the 8th minute.
Saber Chases 92-Year-Old Historic Milestone
At the same time, Saber has become the second-youngest player to score for Egypt in a World Cup tournament.
The ultimate record is still held by the legendary Abdulrahman Fawzi, who scored Egypt’s famous brace against Hungary back in 1994 at the age of 24 years and 9 months. Now, 92 years later, Saber found the back of the net against Iran at the age of 24 years and 10 months.
