Morocco’s Ismael Saibari has scored the fastest goal of the 2026 World Cup so far during the Atlas Lions’ group stage clash against Scotland at Gillette Stadium.
The PSV Eindhoven star, who previously scored Morocco’s opener against Brazil before Vinicius Jr. equalized in a 1-1 draw at MetLife Stadium, was clinical once again on the big stage.
With just 90 seconds on the clock, the ball found Saibari inside the penalty box, where he unleashed a thunderous strike into the roof of Angus Gunn’s net. Up to this point, his brilliant strike officially stands as the quickest goal of the tournament hosted across the US, Canada, and Mexico.
Historical Milestones
-
The World Cup Record: Turkey’s Hakan Sukur still holds the record for the fastest goal in World Cup history, netting just 11 seconds into the third-place playoff against South Korea in 2002.
-
The Arab Record: Saibari has now officially broken the record for the fastest goal scored by an Arab player in World Cup history. The previous record was held by compatriot Hakim Ziyech, who scored after 3 minutes and 30 seconds against Canada at Qatar 2022.
We leave you with the spectacular goal from Saibari, who is reportedly on the verge of completing a blockbuster move to Bayern Munich ahead of next season.
