Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Liverpool submitted an official bid to RB Leipzig to sign Yan Diomande. However, despite the massive financial package offered, the proposal was flatly rejected.
Diomande stood out as one of the Bundesliga’s top performers last season. Consequently, his name has been heavily linked with several elite clubs besides Liverpool, most notably Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
Driven by the English club’s urgent desire to recruit a new winger to succeed Mohamed Salah—whose historic journey at Anfield is coming to an end—Liverpool launched a mega-bid worth €100 million.
The Details of Liverpool’s Offer:
-
Fixed Fee: €90 million guaranteed.
-
Add-ons: €10 million in easily achievable performance-based variables.
-
Leipzig’s Response: Direct and categorical rejection.
Diomande put on a stellar performance in Ivory Coast’s opening match of the 2026 World Cup, where The Elephants secured a 1-0 victory over Ecuador. Following this standout display on the world stage, Leipzig immediately drove up their financial demands for the player.
The German outfit ideally wants to keep Diomande for the upcoming season. However, if the player himself pushes for a move, Leipzig will demand a minimum of €120 million to sanction his sale.
While Liverpool is expected to return with an improved offer in the coming days hoping to persuade Leipzig, the mission is set to become far more complicated. Romano has confirmed that Paris Saint-Germain is also planning a concrete move to hijack the signature of the gifted 20-year-old.
