Historically, Egypt has struggled in their previous three World Cup appearances, failing to secure a single victory. Their best record dates back to Italy 1990, with two draws against the Netherlands and Ireland.

Speaking about his first-ever World Cup experience, Marmoush stated:

“Playing in the World Cup is a dream for any player. Just qualifying and representing your country is immense. But I’ve said it before and I will say it again: we are not here just to participate. We want to compete for the World Cup title.”

The Egyptian winger acknowledged the difficulty of the challenge, adding: “We must remain realistic. We will face some of the best teams in the world, and the competition level is extremely high. We aren’t planning on playing just three games and leaving. Our goal is to clear the group stage, then take it match by match.”

He concluded confidently: “We want to showcase our true capabilities. We can dream of winning the trophy—we are the best in Africa.”

Egypt’s 2026 World Cup Group Stage Schedule:

  • Egypt vs. Belgium – Next Monday (Opening Match)
