FC Barcelona has officially decided to exercise the purchase option for Egyptian starlet Hamza Abdelkrim following his stellar performances with the youth squad. The move is seen as a strategic step to integrate the young talent into the first team over the coming years.
The 18-year-old forward originally joined Barça last winter on a loan deal from Al Ahly SC, which included a non-mandatory buy-out clause.
Financial Details of the Deal
According to reports from Sport, Barcelona’s management has informed Abdelkrim and his agent of their intention to trigger the clause. Al Ahly is set to receive an initial €1.5 million (approximately 80 million EGP).
Barça officials believe the Egyptian striker has adapted remarkably well to the club’s unique philosophy and “DNA.” His physical strength and exceptional aerial ability have convinced the technical staff that he could become a massive asset—either as a first-team starter or a high-value transfer to another European giant in the future.
Long-term Gains for Al Ahly
The agreement includes significant performance-related bonuses. Barcelona could pay an additional €5 million to Al Ahly if Abdelkrim hits specific individual and collective milestones with the first team. Furthermore, the Egyptian club has secured a 15% sell-on clause for any future transfer.

Finishing the Season in Style
Abdelkrim recently showcased his prowess by scoring a 15-minute hat-trick in Barcelona U19’s 9-0 victory over Montacarlo. Remarkably, all three goals were headers, drawing comparisons to Egyptian legends like Hossam Hassan and Gamal Abdelhamid.
Once the permanent transfer is finalized, Hamza is expected to be promoted to Barça Atlètic (the reserve team) next season, where he will aim to impress first-team manager Hansi Flick.
